Are you a collector of all things clutter or simply over-your-head attempting a clutter cleanout?

The Angie's List Clutter Contest might be able to help you.
Submit photos of clutter catastrophes — whether your own or another worthy candidate’s — and a brief explanation to mailbag@angieslist.com. We’ll select the most awe-inspiringly cluttered office or home and crown a national king or queen of clutter.

But there’s also a prize — and help. Whoever “wins” our contest will qualify for a total clutter cleanout compliments of a highly rated professional home organizer.

We’ll feature the winner in our magazine to show the “before” and explain how it got that bad, as well as the “after.” But we’ll also show you the “in-between,” as the clutter cleanout expert goes step-by-step in explaining how our winner dug out from the seemingly unconquerable mess — and how you might, too.

The Unclutterer blog recently featured the Angie's List Clutter Contest!

Thanks to whoever tipped them off.

How can I get you're service if I don't have a Credit Card or Checking Account. I had a company go into my Checking account and take money out illegally. I then shut down my account and only deal in cash. What can I do.

Not to be pushy, but any idea when you'll announce a winner? I'm trying to decide whether to wait or just bite the bullet and pay someone soon - I'm not sure how much longer I can take this mess now that I've decided something's got to give!

how about a basement with 50 years of things stored cause "might need it sometime"...would that count as a clutter entry in contest?

What address can you mail photos to?

I could'a been a contender. My son moved in and has been gradually cleaning and encourageing my participation.

Discoveries - Twenty year old traveler's checks. I have been through four bank failures (old checks)

The bathroom floor is not carpeted with news papers! Soy ink transfers to carpet.

Carol: Go ahead and submit an entry. Just be sure to note that you don't want the winner named. Most likely we will feature the name of the winner, along with a picture. But we're willing to take your request into consideration. We'd hate to miss out on a great story!

Oh! I must admit that I am the collector and keeper of all things remotely sentimental. That can't possibly be clutter can it?

where's my camera! Where is it! I know it's here some where under this pile of papers maybe. . . or on top of the fridge. . . no wait it's . . . nope, perhaps I better go get a disposable camera so I can get help finding mine.

For better (and more compassionate) results, see the book "ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life." Kindness is called for here, not shaming.

Do I know a king or queen of clutter? Yes I do, I married the King and have put up with it for nearly 25 years. Oh how I wish that I could enter but peace and harmony are more important.

Wow! Intriguing contest. Is it possible to feature the winners without naming and shaming them?
7/17/2009 3:06:44 PM

Carol
Does the winner have to be willing to have his/her full name publicized? Does the person have to be photographed or just the mess before/after? Some people would be perfect candidates but would feel exceptionally humiliated by the idea that other people they know would know the mess was his/her mess.

Michelle: Go ahead and submit, and be sure to tell us in the entry not to reveal his or her name -- entries can be sent to mailbag@angieslist.com.

I love this! BUT, the candidate I have in mind may be highly offended ........ will my name be revealed to them? I think it would make a lovely wake-up call, even if they decline the service.

Wait. Do these experts understand the importance of a knitter's stash? I couldn't possibly get rid of ANY of my yarn, including the stuff stored in the kitchen cabinets, under my bed, in the spare room, in my husband's home office, the laundry room, the china cabinet...

Whoops! Thanks, Terrye! The deadline is August 1. We'll announce the winner once we've gone through all the entries!

Great idea! But where can I find the rules and more details for the submission deadline, the date the winner will be announced, etc.? Thanks!
