Once rare occurrences, winter tornados have already claimed dozens of lives in the United States this year. We were talking about this today and I was a little worried to hear that some of my co-workers didn’t take the sirens very seriously and had not taken shelter last night when the storms were moving across the Midwest. They just didn’t believe it could happen to them.
While weather reports can be overblown, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Please take heed when Mother Nature isn’t acting very motherly. Stock up on bottled water, easily opened, non-perishable food. Get a fully-stocked first aid kit and place any personal information that you cannot afford to lose (birth certificates, social security cards, licenses and cash) in an easy to carry waterproof package. Also, if you are out of earshot of an emergency siren, a weather radio is an essential for your home.
Keep yourself safe.
