I think the dentist is the most dreaded of the medical professionals.

Nobody I know is ever looking forward to their next dentist visit, for whatever reason. Some people get squeamish because of the tools or the sounds, the smells, the glaring light that shines down—okay, it makes me shudder a little just thinking about it.

I know there’s always some anxiety attached to having dental work done, regardless of if it’s house work or medical work, but to chill out, try my method for making a situation more comfortable.
  • Introduce yourself. It seems like a simple thing to do, but you connect with someone and that little connection will make a big difference in the long run.
  • Let them know you’re nervous and ask them to talk you through every phase of the work.
  • If you’ve waited to have work done, prioritize, and let them know your priorities.
  • Ask questions. Remember that old rule? The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask.
  • Give them a call. If you’re waiting to hear from them, don’t assume they’re as prompt as you are. After a day, call them and let them know what’s going on at your end. And let them know you expect them to do the same.

Dentistry Roseville
I think this fear of dentists will be coming to an end soon, as several innovations have already been made to make patients feel at ease when visiting their dentists. This is great too as children can make it a habit of having their teeth checked and cleaned by dentists.
